ESX is the way to go for virtulization

I just got my new dell 2950 with quad cores, 8 gigs of RAM, 15k sas drives. ESX is so easy to use and allows you to do a lot to tune and divide your resources. In 4 or 5 u's of rack space I can consolidate 2 to 3 racks of servers maybe even more. If you are going to do esx don't even mess around and get the quad core, with the sas 15k drives you won't regret it. Hard drive space seems to be an issue till you get a handle on your configs. I can't wait to move customers over. I can't get over the speed, what a great product.
If I can market it, I can see going with 1950's and drive arrays. This really going to drive down infrastructure costs for me. For what if spent 3 years ago for entry level servers I can get an enterprise quality box and run over 10 servers. I'm curious as to how Microsoft will respond over the long run. VMare has really got it together, the next 2-3 years should be interesting. Microsoft has probably played the best move with the spla program, I'm just glad Bill is doing good things with the money.

Virtualization is amazing

Even though you have to buy a pretty beefy box you can consolidate and still have extra capacity. I've been experimenting with virtualization but now I want to consolidate most of my servers and get Exchange 2007 up and running. I just order a Dell 2950 with two quad cores and 8 gigs of ram with the 15k SAS drives. I also purchased vmware esx server. Since I'm going to use this system for production I wanted to go with esx because of its reputation for stability and resouce management. I also bough a book off with a gift certificate I got for my birthday.
Dell has some pretty good offers these days. I know you can save, but I'm very afaid of clone hardware and virtualization.

You gotta love the sitewide link

I don't like to go crazy with them, but sitewides from the right source and greatly increase you backlink count. I don't know why but even google seems to count some site give a boost for this. I'd be curious to know how much influence this really does have on the organic serps, although I imagine not as much as would be thought.

Wow 3 months

Blogs are fun but are hard to keep up with. I was checking and I've not posted in 3months. Time sure does fly. I wonder if Google is close to doing an update since that was the last post. I did take a hit on the 26th of January and dropped to a pr5 on my main site, bummed me out but all my directories now have pr, not very many submissions.
